Different types of illegal content are subject to specific Union or national rules on illegality, the precise interpretation and application of which may be subject to further specification and development, including by way of guidelines, recommendations or case law at Union or national level. Such rules or, where such further specification is available, such guidance or recommendations, should be taken into account in assessing whether a given instance of content is to be considered illegal content, with the objective of limiting the dissemination of such content in accordance with the applicable Union and national law.
